This one-day strategic planning workshop is designed for organizations seeking a comprehensive and collaborative strategic planning process using Vectors Group’s proprietary Executive Strategic Evaluation Process (E-SEP) and ViStA Strategic Management Framework.

The workshop combines stakeholder engagement, facilitated surveys, quantity and quality gap analysis, strategic evaluation, organizational alignment, strategic goal development, prioritization, and strategic road mapping.

The full-day format allows participants to move progressively from organizational evaluation and stakeholder perspectives to strategic priorities, alignment, and a high-level roadmap for moving forward.

8:30 – 9:15 AM

Session 1 – Organizational Foundations & Strategic Framework (45 mins)

Establishing Organizational Identity & Strategic Direction

Time Allocation:

  • 10 mins – Introduction and workshop overview
  • 15 mins – Introduction to E-SEP & ViStA methodology
  • 20 mins – Review of Vision, Mission, and organizational direction

The opening session establishes a common foundation for the day. Participants are introduced to the workshop objectives, facilitation process, and the E-SEP and ViStA methodologies that will guide the strategic planning discussions.

The session also provides an opportunity to revisit the organization’s Vision, Mission, and overall direction, ensuring that participants begin the planning process with a shared understanding of the organization’s purpose and desired future.

9:15 – 11:00 AM

Session 2 – Strategic Evaluation, Surveys & Gap Analysis (105 mins)

Organizational Assessment & Strategic Insights

Time Allocation:

  • 35 mins – Stakeholder survey completion and facilitated feedback activities
  • 25 mins – Review and discussion of stakeholder survey findings
  • 25 mins – Quantity and quality gap analysis
  • 20 mins – Discussion of strategic parameters, organizational challenges, opportunities, benchmarking, and environmental considerations

This session provides the analytical foundation for the strategic planning process. Participants contribute their perspectives through facilitated stakeholder engagement activities and examine the organization’s current position from multiple viewpoints.

Using quantity and quality gap analysis, participants explore the difference between the organization’s current position and its desired future state.

The discussion also considers relevant organizational challenges, opportunities, environmental factors, and other strategic parameters that may influence future direction.

Session 3 – Strategic Goals, Priorities & Organizational Alignment (75 mins)

Identifying Strategic Themes & Future Organizational Direction

Time Allocation:

  • 25 mins – Discussion of organizational priorities and alignment considerations
  • 20 mins – Review of sustainability, growth opportunities, governance considerations, and emerging strategic themes

Building on the organizational evaluation completed in Session 2, participants begin translating insights into potential strategic directions.

The facilitated discussion focuses on identifying strategic goals, organizational priorities, and emerging themes while considering their alignment with the organization’s Vision, Mission, stakeholder expectations, capacity, and future direction.

By the end of the morning, participants will have established a clearer set of strategic themes and potential priority areas to carry into the afternoon prioritization process.

Session 4 – Strategic Prioritization (75 mins)

Building Consensus Around Strategic Priorities

Time Allocation:

  • 20 mins – Confirmation of priority areas and strategic focus

This session moves the conversation from identifying possibilities to making strategic choices.
Participants evaluate the strategic themes and potential priorities identified during the morning sessions and discuss their relative importance, feasibility, organizational impact, and alignment with the organization’s future direction.
Through facilitated discussion, participants work toward consensus around a manageable set of strategic priorities that can guide organizational decision-making and future planning.

Turning Strategic Priorities into a Clear Path Forward

Time Allocation:

  • 20 mins – Identification of success indicators and implementation considerations
  • 15 mins – Final alignment, workshop wrap-up, and next steps

The final session translates the organization’s strategic priorities into a high-level strategic roadmap.n

Participants discuss how identified priorities can move forward, explore initial actions and organizational focus areas, and identify potential indicators that can be used to assess progress.

The workshop concludes by reviewing the day’s outcomes, confirming organizational alignment, and establishing the next steps required to move from strategic planning into implementation.

Travel & Accommodation

For workshops held outside the Ottawa region, travel and accommodation expenses are not included in the facilitation fee. These expenses will either be arranged and covered directly by the client or invoiced separately at cost, subject to prior approval.
